Jean Albano Gallery is pleased to present White Lies and Silver Spoons, an exhibition of new paintings by Zack Wirsum. A reception will be held Friday, May 2, 5:30 to 7:30 PM. The exhibition will be on view through June 21, 2014.
Wirsum’s newest body of work embraces the idea of historical quests as a metaphor for the creative process, thematically tied to exploration and discovery. Referencing both legendary and actual events and places – from Mount Everest to the poles, the Great Wall to Atlantis, Viking navigation to Arthurian Grail mythology – segments of narrative elements emerge and dissolve from and into abstract fields functioning as organizational devices and conceptual anchors. The push and pull, both spatial and in terms of emphasis and abstraction, is in a continuous struggle for balance that informs and encourages search and discovery throughout the viewing.
