Paula Barragán was born in Quito, Ecuador in 1963. She graduated from Pratt Institute in New York, with a BFA in design and illustration. She also attended several painting and printmaking classes in Parsons, N.Y. and the San Francisco Art Institute, CA. Since 1987, she works in her art studio where she designs carpets, logos, posters, illustrations, and book covers. But her main work has developed in painting printing and drawing – carrying out numerous individual and group shows in her native Ecuador and in the US, Spain, Peru, New Zealand, and other Countries.
She is a permanent artist of Davidson Galleries in Seattle, WA, and for ten years she worked with Multiple Impressions in Soho, New York, where she presented three solo shows.
Cometas is Barragán’s first show in Chicago.
